To me, the "new employee" excuse only goes so far. At some point, those new employees were evaluated for employment and trained by experienced employees. That process was obviously broken for the new employees that served us recently.
Our evening was one bad service event after another. Here's the list:
- Our name was on a call ahead list (which is separate from the walk-in waiting list). We checked-in with the hostess when we arrived. She forgot about us. There were walk-ins who came in after we arrived that were seated first.
- Chips and salsa was very delayed (they usually come as soon as you sit down).
- We ordered juice and water for the kids when the waitress arrived. Juice always takes a long time because it comes from the bar (which is why we ALSO order water). It took forever to get the juice, and after a while, we had to remind her we also ordered water. While we were waiting for the kids drinks, our same waitress took drink orders from the table beside us and brought them their drinks before she brought the kids drinks.
- The margaritas were very poorly blended. There were huge ice chunks left at the bottom of our glasses after we finished them.
- They had at least 10 open tables and lots of groups of people waiting for a table. That is either a problem with staff scheduling or bad hostesses (did I mention there were two doing that job?).
- Service of everything else was possibly slower than I have ever seen it.
So, will I go back? Probably (because I love me some Mexican food, and their tex mex is unrivaled). Do I feel like going there tonight, or anytime soon? Nope. I'll probably stay away for some time.
